So Entertainment Weekly, ruler of critical opinion, has issued its list of the top 20 SimpsonÂ’s episodes. The list has some glaring flaws, most notably the inclusion of clunkers like ‘The City of New York vs. Homer SimpsonÂ’ and ‘The Simpsons Spinoff ShowcaseÂ’ over all time greats like ‘New Kid on the BlockÂ’ and ‘Selma’s ChoiceÂ’, a personal favorite of mine. (A purist would also say something about the absence of ‘Whacking DayÂ’ and ‘Brother From the Same PlanetÂ’.) But the shocking thing is that for a magazine in which every third issue is a summer movie preview, they came up with a mighty good list. Their top 4 are all great episodes from 1993, with ‘Last Exit To SpringfieldÂ’ rightfully on top.
